About Eiks

Eiks (pronounced like 'aches') is a Japanese-British singer-songwriter who first started writing music in her teens on the piano. During her formative years, she was influenced by Ryuichi Sakamoto and classical piano music.

In her later adult years she began playing the piano again and self taught to play the guitar with influences from Nick Drake and Radiohead. Around 2008 she started writing songs and her inspiration comes from urban life in London, her childhood in Jordan, life in Japan as well as her extensive travel experiences .

Her music is atmospheric with haunting vocals and strong melodies. She describes writing music as an addiction and loves getting lost in the process whilst stumbling across chords that her ears relish.
She records at home, arranges and produces herself maintaining her own Eiks sound. Her songs allow the listener to go on a journey, each song having an identity and varying from dark, gritty and melancholy to dreamy atmosphere to intimate reflection.

She first released an EP Morsel of Love in 2013.
Her new album, Braids was released in July 2017.
